Upon entry, guests are immediately drawn into an environment that celebrates both craftsmanship and continuity. The existing central staircase was repositioned to create a more intuitive and inviting circulation path. A sculptural moss wall feature anchors the entry, juxtaposed against a striking custom staircase with softly curved corners and an integrated lighting system that enhances the natural flow of movement through the home. The staircase’s gentle curves extend upward, leading the eye towards a mezzanine level and fostering a sense of vertical openness.

A full gut remodel transformed this home, opening up once-enclosed spaces to foster connection. Large curved archways framed with glass doors allow light to travel through, while offering the option to close off areas when needed. The entry foyer sets the tone with two grand, curvilinear archways that lead into a double-height stairwell, where moody lighting and a thoughtfully designed key-drop area create a welcoming first impression.

Beyond the bedrooms, the family’s love of entertaining drove the design of the main living areas. In the family room, we carefully arranged seating to foster easy communication and create a natural flow. A formal arrangement of two three-seater sofas, dark leather lounge chairs, and a striking display cabinet ensures both comfort and style. The room features an elegant blend of patterns, colors, and textures, including a pottery collection, colorful vintage books, and gold accents that spark conversation while maintaining a chic, balanced feel. The living room, once a combined dining and living area, was redesigned with symmetrical furniture placement to support large gatherings and clear sightlines. A low seating bench serves as a functional and aesthetic link between the two distinct groupings, and luxurious materials like glossy aged brass, antique mirrors, and velvet surfaces add warmth and sophistication.

Luxury is defined by the attention to detail and the seamless blending of materials that create a cohesive and refined environment. In this residence, we incorporated several luxury details that not only elevate the space but also enhance the monochromatic theme. One of the standout luxury elements is the consistent application of paneling throughout the home. This detail adds depth and texture to the walls, creating a sense of continuity. In areas where we dealt with double-height ceilings, we introduced ribbed detailing to add an extra layer of luxury, complemented by cove lighting. This combination not only highlights the architectural features but also adds a sophisticated ambiance to the space. Accents of brass were used strategically in the kitchen, particularly on the island cabinetry and cabinet handles. These touches of metal provide a warm contrast against the monochromatic backdrop, adding a layer of richness and refinement without overwhelming the overall aesthetic. The Chevron flooring pattern with brass inlay, a modern yet costly detail that adds a striking effect. The brass inlay creates an interesting division between the Chevron pattern and the linear layout of the flooring, enhancing the visual appeal while maintaining a cohesive look. Dark semi-gloss accents were used around the thresholds on the main floor, drawing attention to the entryways and adding a sleek, polished finish that contrasts beautifully with the matte surfaces.

Central to the redesign was the kitchen, which initially felt small and enclosed. The clients expressed a desire for a more open and connected space, allowing for seamless interaction between the kitchen, backyard, dining area, and family room. In response to this vision, our design team embarked on a mission to reimagine the kitchen as the heart of the home—a space that not only serves as a culinary hub but also fosters a harmonious flow between indoor and outdoor living. Initially, the kitchen occupied approximately 300 square feet. By relocating the structural load-bearing wall by approximately 2 feet and opening up the wall between the kitchen and family room, we expanded the combined kitchen and breakfast area to nearly 450 square feet. This additional space allowed us to incorporate a full-size standard island, providing ample counter and prep space for this family of six. This home features a harmonious blend of materials, color schemes, fittings, furnishings, and architectural features. The kitchen exemplifies this with an ideal combination of white oak cabinetry and light oak flooring, complemented by white lower cabinets that break up the wood tones. Integrated lighting enhances both ambiance and functionality, while the seamless design of integrated handles maintains clean lines. Accents of black throughout add a modern touch, and matte black plumbing fixtures paired with matching light fixtures create a cohesive look. The durable Dekton countertop, a ultracompact porcelain surface, that is ideal for high-traffic, paired with a real Calacatta marble bar top and feature side, for added elegance. Light grey countertops, with their subtle pattern, extend onto the backsplash and walls, creating a modern, cohesive aesthetic. These elements together form a functional and visually stunning space that aligns with the family’s preference for clean, and modern interior, making the home both inviting and sophisticated.

The journey continues into the kitchen, a culinary haven designed for both functionality and beauty. Integrated appliances ensure a seamless flow, while accents of brass, ribbed detailing, and shaker panels add a touch of elegance. Of course, no design is complete without the perfect lighting. With ceilings soaring to double the standard height, selecting fixtures that both accentuated the space and made a statement was paramount. The result? A breathtaking entry into a home that is as inviting as it is impressive, where every element – from the furniture to the lighting – works in perfect harmony to create an atmosphere that is nothing short of extraordinary.
